How to Get More People to Find Your Horse Show or Equine Event

You planned the event. You booked the facility. You created the showbill, posted it on Facebook and shared it in a handful of groups.

Now you need people to actually find it.

Promoting a horse show, barrel race, rodeo, clinic, trail ride or other equine event has changed. Social media is still valuable, but relying on a few Facebook posts isn't always enough to reach everyone who might attend.

Your Event Needs to Be Findable

Think about how someone who doesn't already follow your page might look for an event.

They may search:

"Horse shows near me this weekend."

"Barrel races near Nashville."

"Ranch horse shows in Kentucky."

"Horse clinics within 100 miles."

Those people aren't necessarily searching for your event by name. They're searching for something to do, somewhere to compete or somewhere to take their horse.

That's why being discoverable matters.

Don't Rely on One Social Media Post

Social media moves fast.

You can create a great event flyer, post it to Facebook and have it disappear down someone's feed within hours. Even sharing it repeatedly doesn't guarantee that the right people will see it.

Good event promotion uses several channels.

Social media can create awareness. Email can reach previous participants. Your organization or facility website can provide information. And an equine event directory like The Showbill can help people discover your event when they're actively looking for somewhere to go.

Give People the Information They Need

A good event listing should answer the important questions quickly:

  • What is the event?

  • When is it?

  • Where is it?

  • What type of event is it?

  • Who can participate?

  • Where can someone find additional information?

  • How can they contact the organizer?

The easier you make it for someone to understand your event, the easier it is for them to decide to attend.

Reach Beyond Your Existing Followers

One of the biggest opportunities for event organizers is reaching people who don't already know you.

That's part of the reason we created The Showbill.

The goal is to connect equine event organizers with horse people searching by location, distance, date and event type—whether they've attended your event for years or they're discovering it for the first time.

Because somewhere nearby, someone may be asking:

"Where can I go with my horse this weekend?"

Your event could be the answer.

Have an upcoming equine event? List it on The Showbill and help more horse people find you.
